First of all WELCOME and congratulations on choosing to learn more about your health and wellness. This is the dawn of becoming a wellness champion. You may wonder what’s involved in becoming a wellness champion which is exactly what this web site will address.
Health and vitality are aspects of life all of us take for granted. I’m sure you must have noticed when your vitality goes down or up. You may, however, not have made a connection with the reason for the increase or decrease in your vitality. These are the issues I will be addressing in this web site.
Our food choices, the way foods are cooked, quality of our food choices and ingredients, chemicals and these days genetically engineered foods, and irradiated foods. In short our bodies are a biochemistry machine.
What are the consequences of our food choices? Below is a questionnaire you can rate yourself on. How you feel today is a story of the quality of life you have lived and the foods you have eaten in the past.
I’ve been a health advocate ever since I realized the value of food. I never did eat food for filling up my apparent hunger. I ate food that was attractive and tasteful. So I learned the qualities of taste. Taste is actually a function of our bodies. When we’re healthy our taste is a guide towards food choices. What’s good. What’s not so good for you. The next function of our bodies is to monitor “how much is enough?” These are a few function enhancements that occur when your body is in optimal health.
The questions I ask myself back then was how is it possible to get the biggest value for my food dollars and value for my body? You can guess that I had to do a lot of research over a long time to come up with the materials in this site. I became a student of my own body, nutrition, food combining, the study of herbs.
The above questions started me questioning and researching many fields. Agricultural practices (that lead into some of the political bills and lobbying done in Washington) Believe it or not Agriculture is influenced by politics and lobbying which of course is influenced by monies.
The quality and chemistry of the soil. Seeds, farming and foods lead us to how things are grown. We can’t leave out the chemicals sprayed on foods, plants and soils and of course, animals as well. Water is another aspect of the puzzle.
What’s really inside of our foods when we go to the market? What’s inside your bag of chips? Can you understand the words you read on the ingredients? How are foods prepared? What short cuts are done to improve profits? Lots of questions.
First lets look at the reason you came to this site. Lets look at the stressors in life today, in your life. The questionnaire below will address some of them.
The second look will be your happiness with your vitality, energy and weight. These can be simply an over use of sugar and white flours, pasta and fast foods. A lot of your changes can come from just changing some of these choices. Less sugar, less white flour, less sodas, less fast foods.
The next area would be organic. Buying organic or from a local farmer who uses sprays minimally (washing and peeling vegetable is essential.
Beef, chicken, fish and other protein products need to be organic grass feed as well as eggs. This way you are sure of the quality nutrition your body needs.
Organic foods tend to be more expensive but buying cheap turns out not to be cheap. Fake foods have been sneaking into our foods and food products. So, buying food, eating foods, and cooking foods has become more complicated. Eating non-GMO is also something you need to watch out for. Buying a food product that says NATURAL is not organic or certified organic or non-GMO. Natural in that case means little.
If you make the above choices your foods will begin tasting great and wonderful, even better when you begin using the spices along with them.
I will go into vitamins, minerals, spices, recipes, and help with weight management. What manufacturers do and how they lie to you. Processing foods, additives, packaging, fake foods, sugars ,white flours all of these issues drain your body of energy, vitality, stamina and happiness.
Mostly when you have more energy you will begin to move more and eat less. Moving more and eating less is definitely a plus.
In short you can become your own Health Detective. The symptoms you may be experiencing can be the culprits that have been hiding out in your body. You can be a help to your doctor and yourself by taking responsibility for your health and the choices you make. Every Day is a new Day.
